This booklet has all the information you need ahead of your upcoming assessment fortnight. Here you’ll find:
- An assessment timetable
- Revision strategies and techniques
- Topics lists and specific advice for each subject
This will follow a similar format to the Assessment fortnight you undertook in November. All we ask from you is that you try your best!
How you do on your assessments, along with your classwork and homework, help teachers understand your progress during year 7 and what areas should be your next steps for year 8.
These weeks will help get you into good exam revision habits and make it easier for you to sit future exams, as you move through your schooling . By practising revision methods now you will know what works for you. and maybe what might not work for you and by revising and preparing, your experience in assessments will be less stressful.
Think of it like your assessments are a musical performance or a match day for a sports team – you wouldn’t perform your best without the practice and training sessions beforehand!
The first series of pages give you the timetable and some techniques and advice, please dip into these and use those that are relevant to you at your stage in your education. You will get to try these and others again in year 8 and beyond.
The next series of pages give you some pointers as to what your exam will look like and the key areas to focus your revision on.
Your class teachers, form tutors and heads of year are all here to help you, as well as the SSC – so please do speak to them if you are worried about any aspect of your upcoming assessments.
